Full job description

Responsibilities

We are hiring. Peraton is looking for a Senior SQL DBA. This qualified individual will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance customer enterprise applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring deep technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Installation, Administration and Maintenance of SQL Server Instances in a multi-cloud environment

  • Assists in developing the strategic direction for the database topography within the solution offering

  • Create Users and assign permissions based on the level of database access the user would need

  • Design database backup and restore strategy

  • Design and build High-Availability as part of Disaster Recovery Strategy for the Databases

  • Assist in customer application migration strategy and migration activities

  • Troubleshoot various problems that arise in the day-to-day operations and fix the issues

  • Monitoring and Performance Tuning; Physical Server Level, Database level (Database settings and options) and query tuning to include index optimizations

  • Failover clustering, SAN replication, and other high availability technologies

  • Database growth vs disk space available, audits, resource monitoring (I/O bottlenecks, memory pressure, CPU use)

  • Manage Maintenance Plans

  • Monitor backups to ensure they are being performed regularly

  • From time to time recover the databases to a specific point of time

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years with a Bachelors degree or a HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years of experience.

  • Must have Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience.

  • Must have Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS experience

  • Must have SSIS / SSAS / SSRS experience

  • SQL Server Installation, Configuration & Maintenance experience

  • Familiarity with :

  • SQL Server Instance Administration

  • Multi-Cloud Database Environments

  • Database Architecture & Topology

  • Database Security, Users, Roles & Permissions

  • Backup & Restore Strategy

  • Point-in-Time Database Recovery

  • Disaster Recovery (DR)

  • High Availability (HA)

  • SQL Server Failover Clustering

  • SAN Replication

  • Experience with Database Growth & Capacity Planning

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance

Target Salary Range $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
