Kelly Education: Special Education Support Professional (Aide, Paraeducator, or Substitute Teacher)
Location: McCarthy Teszler School
Reports To: Center/District/School Director, Principal, or Assigned Classroom Teacher
Employment Type: Substitute and Temporary Assignments Available
Grades/Ages Served: Early childhood (ages 0-5), Elementary, Middle, and High School
Overview:
Kelly Education is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Special Education Support Professionals. This flexible role includes work as a Substitute Aide, Paraeducator, or Substitute Teacher, providing essential support to students with special needs in inclusive and special education settings. You will work under the direct supervision of district/school employees to support the educational, physical, emotional, and social development of students.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Assist and support supervising teachers and school administrators in providing instructional and behavioral support to students with special needs.

Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and follow existing lesson plans to foster student learning.

Supervise students in classrooms, common areas, and during school activities as directed.

Prepare classroom materials, perform basic clerical duties, and maintain a clean and safe learning environment—including routine sanitizing and disinfecting.

Support personal care routines as needed (feeding, toileting, diapering, napping, etc.), strictly following training and district policy.

Uphold all building and administrative procedures, maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and the S.A.F.E. Touch policy.

Immediately report accidents, injuries, illnesses, or emergencies to supervising staff and Kelly Education as required.

Respect and honor the diverse cultures within our school communities.
-
Collaborate effectively with other staff, demonstrate positive relationships within the school and community, and exhibit a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student well-being.
Qualifications:
-
Meets all state and local requirements for education/experience and (if applicable) substitute teaching or paraeducator credentials.
-
Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to lift or assist with materials and students up to 25 pounds, per job assignment.
-
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
-
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
-
Successfully complete Kelly Education and, as applicable, district-specific training.
-
Demonstrates understanding and respect for diverse values and traditions in the classroom.
-
Maintains strict student and staff confidentiality.
Additional Requirements:
-
Adheres to all safety, professional conduct, and confidentiality standards outlined by Kelly Education and the school district.
-
Must wear attire in accordance with the Kelly Standards of Professional Conduct.
-
For Substitute Teacher roles: must meet teacher preparation and/or certification requirements as defined by state law and district policy.
-
For Paraeducators/Aides: must have the qualifications and/or experience required for paraprofessional support duties.
Unacceptable Duties – For Your Safety and Compliance:
-
No use of corporal punishment, medication administration, or physical restraint (unless specifically trained for a relevant assignment and as per district guidelines).
-
No sole supervision in settings such as playgrounds, buses, or private/off-site locations.
-
No responsibilities such as planning curriculum, grading, direct parent communication regarding IEP or placement, or operating potentially dangerous equipment.
-
No lifting in excess of 25 pounds unless specifically allowed by the assignment and your training.
-
No responsibility for bus driving, crossing guard duties, or student transportation.
-
Strictly refrain from administering medical care, including feeding or breathing tubes, unless specifically trained and assigned.
