Full job description

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible

SCHEDULE: 1-2 evenings per week for 4 weeks

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Small Engine Maintenance Instructor to teach a short course focused on preparing small engines for winter/spring storage. This course is designed for homeowners, hobbyists, and seasonal equipment users who want to prolong the life of their small engines by learning best practices for off-season care. Some duties include: • Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons • Demonstrate proper maintenance and safety techniques • Provide students with checklists, maintenance schedules, and winter prep guides • Answer questions and support diverse learning styles • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and interactive learning environment • Be willing to offer the course in the fall & spring

Job Qualifications

  • 5 years’ proven experience working with small engines (repair, maintenance, or instruction)

  • Strong knowledge of seasonal maintenance practices

  • Prior teaching or public speaking experience preferred

  • Ability to communicate clearly with both novice and experienced learners

  • Certifications (e.g., OPE, STIHL, Briggs & Stratton) are a plus but not required

  • Must be fingerprinted
