Manager of Marketing Intelligence & Strategic Insights

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is the nation's leading cancer center dedicated to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention. Within the Technology Commercialization department, the Manager of Marketing Intelligence & Strategic Insights supports the advancement of oncology-focused technologies and healthcare innovations by delivering market intelligence that informs commercialization, partnership, and investment decisions. The Manager of Marketing Intelligence & Strategic Insights works closely with leadership to provide data-driven insights that support strategic portfolio management and technology assessment.

UT MD Anderson's Technology Commercialization function helps translate scientific discoveries into real-world healthcare solutions through licensing, partnerships, venture activities, and commercialization strategies. The Manager of Marketing Intelligence & Strategic Insights plays a critical role in evaluating market opportunities, supporting strategic due diligence, and generating intelligence that enables evidence-based decision-making. The Manager of Marketing Intelligence & Strategic Insights serves as a key contributor to the organization's innovation ecosystem.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the business side of science, combining quantitative analytical capabilities with experience evaluating technology, healthcare, life sciences, biotechnology, or commercialization opportunities. Candidates with experience conducting market research, competitive intelligence, financial analysis, and strategic assessments within scientific, healthcare, innovation, or venture-focused environments are highly desirable.

Minimum $59.13/hour - Midpoint $74.04/hour - Maximum $88.94/hour

Responsibilities

Market Intelligence & Research • Conduct comprehensive market research across oncology, healthcare, biotechnology, and related industries • Analyze market trends, customer needs, industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes • Develop actionable intelligence to support commercialization and investment decisions • Monitor emerging technologies, industry developments, and market opportunities

Competitive Intelligence & Strategic Analysis • Evaluate competitors, products, technologies, partnerships, and commercialization strategies • Generate intelligence reports and strategic market assessments for leadership • Identify opportunities, risks, and market differentiators across portfolio technologies • Support strategic planning through quantitative and qualitative market analyses

Due Diligence & Portfolio Support • Support due diligence activities related to partnerships, licensing, investments, and commercialization opportunities • Develop analytical models and assessments to evaluate market potential and business viability • Contribute to portfolio management activities through evidence-based recommendations • Assess market attractiveness, commercial feasibility, and growth opportunities

Reporting & Decision Support • Prepare executive-ready presentations, reports, and intelligence summaries • Translate complex market and competitive data into clear business insights • Deliver quantitative analyses that support Director-level and executive decision-making • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a concise, actionable format

Collaboration & Strategic Initiatives • Partner with commercialization, business development, and innovation stakeholders • Support strategic industry venture initiatives through ongoing intelligence gathering • Maintain awareness of healthcare innovation trends and commercialization best practices • Contribute analytical expertise to cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Public Health, or related field.

  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Health or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Required: 7 years experience in healthcare, life sciences, consulting, market research, or strategic analysis conducting market research, competitive intelligence, or commercialization analysis.

  • Preferred: Experience supporting technology commercialization, venture evaluation, licensing, or investment diligence.

  • Experience conducting market research, competitive intelligence, business analysis, strategic planning, commercialization analysis, technology assessment, or related analytical work • Experience in healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences, venture capital, technology commercialization, innovation management, consulting, business development, or strategic planning environments; experience supporting the commercialization of scientific or healthcare innovations; experience developing quantitative models and business cases
