Jr Data Engineer

Job Description

• Analyze Jira stories and translate requirements into scalable data solutions
• Assess source systems and identify required data elements
• Design enterprise-level data models for structured finance datasets
• Build, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines
• Integrate data from SQL, NoSQL, Excel, and other source systems
• Develop AWS-based data engineering solutions and workflows
• Create and manage AWS Step Functions, Lambda functions, and orchestration processes
• Model and load data into enterprise data platforms
• Work with structured finance business stakeholders to understand ratings, loans, and bond-related data
• Troubleshoot data quality, performance, and integration issues
• Support data warehousing initiatives and cross-platform integrations
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions
• Document data flows, technical designs, and operational procedures

Skills and Requirements

• 2-5 years of Data Engineering experience
• Strong financial services or banking domain background
• Enterprise-level data modeling experience
• Experience handling and integrating multiple data sources across an ecosystem
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline development
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Ability to analyze source systems and design target state data models
• Experience gathering requirements from Jira stories and independently analyzing, modeling, and engineering data solutions
• AWS experience
• Experience designing and loading enterprise data models
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Must be a genuine hands-on engineer with verifiable project experience
• Understanding of credit ratings, structured finance, loan management, and bond management
• SQL development skills
• Python development experience
• Azure data services experience
• SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
• Java or Spring Boot experience
• Experience with REST APIs and GraphQL
• Tableau or Power BI reporting experience
• DynamoDB, MongoDB, or other NoSQL platforms
• Experience with CloudWatch monitoring
• CI/CD and containerization knowledge
• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and AI-assisted development tools
• Experience with JSON, XML, and semi-structured data
• Data warehousing and dimensional modeling expertise
