Job Description

Insight Global’s client is seeking a Controller for a direct hire opportunity in Shawnee, OK. Our client is a defense engineering, manufacturing, repair, and MRO organization. They provide engineering, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and sustainment solutions for military aircraft and naval platforms. The Controller is responsible for all aspects of the Accounting Department, operationally and reporting, and has 3 direct reports. They will also be involved in creating and updating departmental budgets and reporting to executive leaderships.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all accounting functions, including AP, AR, Cost Accounting, Payroll, Cash Management, and Inventory.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, government contract requirements, and internal controls.
  • Resolve accounting issues, identify root causes, and implement process improvements.
  • Coordinate external audits and maintain required financial and audit documentation.
  • Oversee inventory controls, cycle counts, and annual physical inventories.
  • Present financial results and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Develop, train, and mentor accounting staff while partnering with leaders to improve business processes and efficiency.

Skills and Requirements

  • 8+ years accounting experience in Manufacturing/MRO
  • Strong people-first leader with 3+ years managing direct reports and ability to develop and mentor accounting staff
  • Experience with Government Contracts and a solid understanding of cost plus, front fixed price, and DCAA audits
  • Ability to review, report, and present financials to executive leadership
  • Hands on with financial statement preparation and analysis, cycle counts, cost accounting, journal postings, and audit readiness
  • Deltek Costpoint
