Python Developer

Job Description

An Oil & Gas company located in Downtown Houston is seeking a Python Developer to join its Information Systems department. This group builds and supports software solutions that power real-time operational decision-making across Oil & Gas production environments. The applications developed by this team are used by a wide range of stakeholders, from field engineers to executive leadership. In this role, you will contribute to multiple application projects, partnering closely with front-end engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Analysts/Product Owners to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack applications using Python, Node.JS, Nest.JS, FastAPI, and Oracle DB
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and asynchronous APIs using FastAPI and Flask
• Optimize API performance, reliability, and scalability
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality, maintainable code
• Containerize and deploy applications using Docker and Kubernetes
• Debug and troubleshoot production issues in a real-time environment
• Follow software development best practices, including code reviews and CI/CD pipelines

Based on knowledge and experience, this position offers an hourly pay rate of $65-75/hr.

Skills and Requirements

• Strong Python development experience, including FastAPI and FlaskAPI
• Hands-on experience with Oracle databases
• Experience with Real-Time data processing
• Experience with Node.js development and Nest.js
• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with microservices architectures
• Experience leveraging Claude Code or Cursor for development assistance
• Solid understanding of unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git)
• Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
• Domain knowledge in the O&G industry
