Full job description
Banquet Chef Location: Vero Beach, FL area (Onsite)
Our client, a prestigious private country club on Florida's Treasure Coast, is looking for a hands-on Banquet Chef to help lead culinary execution across a dynamic, high-volume events program. This is a rare opportunity to join an elite club known for its scratch-made cuisine, mentorship-driven culture, and genuinely positive kitchen environment — no yelling, no toxic leadership, just serious craft and a team that pushes each other to grow.
You'll be right in the mix: cooking alongside the team, running prep, and executing everything from intimate member dinners to plated banquets for 700 guests. If you thrive on variety, love the energy of event-driven cooking, and want to build a career with a club that genuinely invests in developing its chefs, this is worth a conversation.
What You'll Do
- Lead food production for club events, private functions, golf tournaments, and member events
- Cook hands-on alongside the team — this is an active culinary leadership role, not a management-only position
- Build and delegate daily prep lists to keep the kitchen ready for upcoming events
- Supervise and coordinate the banquet culinary team, maintaining quality, consistency, and timing
- Butcher and portion proteins as needed
- Cook and plate for events ranging from small member dinners to large banquets serving 400–700 guests
- Uphold food quality, presentation, and consistency to the club's high standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, food-safety-compliant kitchen
- Partner with the Executive Chef and culinary team on menu execution for seasonal events, weddings, golf outings, and member functions
- Support inventory, ordering, and staffing needs as required
Compensation & Perks
- Base salary + Bonus: End-of-season performance-based bonus, up to 7.5%
- Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) with company match up to 6%
- Relocation assistance: Available on a case-by-case basis for qualified candidates
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of leadership experience as a Banquet Sous Chef, Banquet Chef, or Sous Chef with significant banquet responsibility
- Proven experience executing high-volume banquets (large guest counts) while maintaining elevated food quality and presentation
- Background in high-end private clubs, luxury hotels/resorts, upscale banquet operations, or fine dining with banquet experience
- No formal culinary degree required — hands-on experience is what matters most
- Flexibility for early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays based on the event calendar
- Nice to have: experience supporting golf tournaments, tennis events, or other large-scale member/resort events
About the Opportunity This role offers genuine room to grow — strong performers have a clear path toward Chef de Cuisine and, long-term, Executive Sous Chef. The club places real value on internal promotion and developing chefs who want to build a career, not just fill a seat.
Our client is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This is an onsite position based in the Vero Beach, FL area; relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
