Schedule: Full time Shift: Day (United States of America) Address: 605 MONTGOMERY RD City: ALTAMONTE SPRINGS State: Florida Postal Code: 32714 Job Description:
Schedule: PRN with AdventHealth and Full Time with the Conference. Shift: Days Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm, plus on call rotation. Location: Covering Seminole, Orange and Osceola. Sits at Altamonte Springs Campus.
- Provides spiritual support and counseling to hospice patients, their caregivers, and family members.
- Assists patients and families in clarifying their spiritual welfare and concerns.
- Arranges for additional spiritual support or counseling as needed.
- Acts as a liaison with the religious leaders of the patient/family or spiritual community.
- Conducts initial pastoral care assessments of patients and families within 5 days of admission.
- Designs and oversees the implementation of pastoral care plans. Makes bereavement calls to the patient’s family within 2 working days of the patient’s death.
- Provides bereavement support and assessment to the bereavement coordinator.
- Conducts and supports hospice bereavement groups in cooperation with bereavement staff.
- Promotes the role of hospice and develops a supportive network with clergy, churches, synagogues, and community organizations.
- Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team and attends all scheduled meetings.
- Maintains appropriate professional documentation related to patients and caregivers as part of the Plan of Care in the patient database system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current counseling theories and practices in the performance of duties in compliance with the legal and ethical parameters established and based on the level of education and certification attained by the employee. [Required]
- Knowledge of basic to intermediate application of Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as well as internet software. [Required]
- Knowledge of patient database system (i.e. Homeworks). [Required]
- Ability to show respect and sensitivity for cultural and religious differences. [Required]
- Knowledge of hospice services provided by Hospice of the Comforter. [Required]
- Knowledge and support of the Biblical philosophy of compassionate caring. [Required]
- Knowledge and application of Hospice of the Comforter policy and procedures. [Required]
- Knowledge of regulatory agencies governing hospice activities. [Required]
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to make professional presentations. [Required]
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations. [Required]
- Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of both genders. [Required]
- Ability to be respectful and non-judgmental in all dealings with all individuals. [Required]
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations involving all aspects of hospice care, general business periodicals, professional journals or technical procedures [Required]
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of organization/employee/patient/family/caregiver information. [Required]
- Ability to write effective correspondence including letters, reports and other documentation. [Required]
- Ability to operate standard office machines such as fax, copier, calculator and mail machines. [Required]
- Ability to provide superior customer service to all contacts. [Required]
Education:
- Master's [Required]
Field of Study:
- in Divinity or related field
Work Experience:
- 3+ years related experience and/or training [Required]
- Employed by Seventh Day Adventist Conference is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Administrator [Required]

Pay Range:
$26.29 - $48.91 Background Screening Requirement (Florida Law)
