The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a Training & Security Specialist at Montana State Hospital - Galen. TheTraining & Security Specialistpromotes, maintains, and oversees the overall safety and security of staff and patients at the Forensic Mental Health Facility (FMHF). Position ensures that all staff are properly trained in secure-facility practices, including emergency protocols, patient interaction, de-escalation procedures, contraband control, and overall facility operations. Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the work of Forensic Mental Health Technicians, facilitating drills, evaluating staff competency, and reinforcing compliance with policies and procedures. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity: * Knowledge of security operations, techniques, and equipment used in forensic or other secure treatment environments. * Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with both staff and patients. * Ability to design and deliver training materials, teach procedures, conduct in-service trainings, and evaluate staff performance. * Skills in coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback to support staff development. * Ability to analyze problems using logic and reasoning, evaluate alternative solutions, and clearly communicate process improvements. * Ability to write clear, comprehensive reports and document incidents or training activities professionally. * Meet the following minimum qualifications: o High school diploma or equivalent. o Bachelor's degree in social sciences, safety, criminal justice, mental health, education, communication, emergency management, healthcare or related field preferred. o Two-years related experience in security or facility safety in a role involving direct interaction with patients or high-risk populations. o Two-years supervisory experience preferred. o Experience providing training, coaching, or instruction strongly preferred. o Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
