Job Title: Specialist, Business Analytics

The role aligns to industry level titles such as “Business Analyst (BA)”

Role Summary

The Business Analyst (BA) ensures we are solving the right business problem. They provide deep understanding of stakeholder needs, business processes, and desired outcomes. They work closely with business users, SMEs, product owners, developers, data engineers, and QA teams.

  • Understand business needs and objectives

  • Ensure data initiatives align to business objectives

  • Elicit and analyze business requirements and use cases

  • Create user stories and process flows

  • Create shared understanding across stakeholders

  • Identify process improvement opportunities

  • Support testing, validation, and user acceptance activities

  • Act as the "voice of the business" throughout the delivery lifecycle .

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements elicitation with stakeholders

  • Analyze business processes and identify improvement opportunities

  • Create and maintain:

  • Business rules and requirements documentation

  • Business use cases

  • Process models

  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure requirements are feasible

  • Manage stakeholder communications and expectations

Required Skills

  • Strong requirements elicitation and analysis skills

  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience translating business processes into Agile requirements

  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  • Familiarity with how to influence without authority

  • Strong track record of consensus building and delivering value to the business

  • Business acumen

  • Experience working on data, reporting, BI, or data warehouse initiatives

  • Experience in Jira and Confluence

Preferred Skills

  • Agile/Scrum experience

  • Business process mapping

  • Data visualization tools

  • ETL and data warehousing concepts

Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree in Business, Communications, Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant experience

  • Experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or related role

  • Knowledge of databases and reporting solutions

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively

  • Relevant IIBA, PMI, or Scrum Alliance certification preferred

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by factors including skill set, experience, and location.

The full-time salary range for this role is $85,000 – $100,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. Information on benefits can be found here.
