Full job description

EggAI · Full-time · Remote (EU only)

The Role

You will lead a team of 2 to 6 engineers delivering an AI project for one of our enterprise clients. You are accountable for that delivery from the architecture to the timeline, passing through the quality standards.

Clients come to us because we work at the forefront of AI in the enterprise, and we deliver high quality solutions. You help implement our AI strategy alongside them — backend services, event-driven architectures and multi-agent systems in modern Python.

This is a hands-on lead role with a real management component. You write code, you own the technical direction, and you are also helping your engineers grow. The people management side has active support from EggAI's head of engineering whenever you need it — you are not left to figure out career conversations or difficult feedback on your own.

This is a remote position. We only accept candidates located in the EU.

What You'll Own

Delivery

  • Accountability for the delivery: scope, sequencing, technical decisions, quality and timeline

  • Working day to day with the client and with the project manager / product owner to turn what they need into a plan the team can execute

  • Being honest about estimates and risk, early

Leading the team

  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of 2 to 6 backend and AI engineers in a remote-first environment

  • Regular 1:1s, constructive feedback, and support for career development — with the head of engineering backing you up as needed

  • Raising the bar through code and design review

Technical direction

  • Drive architecture decisions for scalable, async-first Python systems

  • Make sure our engineering practices are actually followed — ADRs, TDRs, architecture principles, testing, documentation and security

  • Contribute hands-on to the critical services, APIs and AI orchestration paths

Ways of working

  • Run the team's rhythm: daily standups, planning, retrospectives

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience leading small engineering teams (2-6 engineers) in a technical capacity, while remaining hands-on

  • Has been accountable for a delivery, not just for a codebase

  • Strong coding skills with deep knowledge of async programming and backend development

  • Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis streams), and relational databases (PostgreSQL)

  • Comfortable working directly with clients and with a project manager / product owner

  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical leadership with people management

  • Excellent communication skills — able to articulate technical concepts to both engineers and stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical rigor, and attention to detail

  • Experience working effectively in remote-first, distributed teams

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Nice to have

  • Experience with multi-agent systems, AI orchestration, or generative AI projects

  • Knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure (STACKIT, Azure, AWS, or GCP)

  • Track record of hiring, onboarding, and developing engineering talent

  • Contributions to open-source projects or participation in technical communities

About EggAI

Agentic workforces are inevitable. Making them work is our mission.

EggAI is building the engineering methods, operating models, and reusable technology to deploy agentic workforces with the quality and control required for sustained business impact.

Working closely with enterprise clients, we design, implement and operate agentic systems that evolve from augmenting individual tasks to autonomously executing end-to-end processes alongside people—resilient, controlled, and scalable. We begin with the client problem, select the technical approach that best serves it, and remain accountable through deployment, adoption, and operations. Each deployment strengthens the next by turning production learning into reusable capability.

We are an experienced, international team working across Europe. We set high standards, take ownership of outcomes, and value clear thinking, candid feedback, and the ability to turn ideas into tangible results.
