Job Description

Are you a creative and user-focused design student looking to apply your skills in a dynamic corporate environment? Pilot Company is seeking a Product Design Intern to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the summer of 2027. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience designing digital experiences that impact millions of users across our mobile app, website, and retail technology platforms. You'll make a meaningful impact by supporting the development of new features while being mentored by our experienced Product Design team. In this role, you will be an integral part of our Product Design team. Your key responsibility will be to support the design and enhancement of user experiences across Pilot's digital platforms, helping bring new features from concept to execution. You will collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, and developers to create intuitive, engaging, and user-centered solutions. This internship is not only an opportunity to learn the practical application of UX/UI design principles but also a chance to grow within a supportive team that is dedicated to developing its people.

What You’ll Do

  • Support digital product design: You'll contribute to the design of new features and enhancements across Pilot's mobile app, website, and retail technology platforms.

  • Create user-centered experiences: You'll help design intuitive interfaces and user journeys that improve the experience for guests and end users.

  • Collaborate across the product lifecycle: You'll work closely with designers, product teams, and developers to bring concepts and designs to life.

  • Apply research and insights: You'll leverage user feedback, design principles, and industry best practices to help create effective design solutions.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Product Design, Information Sciences, or a related field.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Figma is essential. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator, is required. Experience with motion design tools such as After Effects or Figma Motion is a plus.

  • Soft Skills: A coachable mindset with the ability to accept and apply feedback constructively. Strong communication and collaboration skills, coupled with curiosity, creativity, and a passion for designing solutions that put users first.

  • Qualities: A strong portfolio (or shareable PDF) demonstrating design thinking, self-motivated projects, and a genuine passion for design. We value individuals who are driven, reliable, authentic, and welcoming.
