Full job description
Description We are looking for a Compensation Analyst to support compensation programs and market-based pay decisions for an organization based in Jersey City, New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can evaluate pay structures, interpret compensation data, and help maintain fair and competitive salary practices across the business. The role partners closely with HR stakeholders to provide analytical guidance on pay decisions, compliance considerations, and annual compensation activities.
Responsibilities:

Evaluate roles using compensation data and benchmarking resources to recommend job classification and appropriate pay ranges while balancing external competitiveness with internal alignment.

Partner with HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition to assess pay recommendations for hires, promotions, and market-driven adjustments, escalating final approvals as needed.

Perform exemption reviews and apply wage and hour standards to support compliant compensation practices.

Take part in compensation and salary survey submissions, then interpret survey findings to inform pay analysis and organizational positioning.

Support annual compensation activities by assisting with merit planning, incentive administration, data validation, employee communications, and processing tasks.

Contribute to variable pay initiatives through analysis, payout calculations, and financial modeling tied to compensation budgets.

Assist with executive compensation administration, including support for long-term incentive programs and equity tracking tools.

Maintain compensation-related data, reports, and spreadsheets to improve accuracy and support decision-making.

Work onsite in Jersey City, New Jersey when business needs require in-office collaboration. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

3-5 years of compensation experience covering market pricing, job evaluation, pay analysis, compensation administration, and classification review work.

Experience using compensation benchmarking platforms such as Salary.com CompAnalyst or similar market pricing tools.

Knowledge of compensation practices for both hourly and salaried employee groups across a range of functions and levels.

Hands-on experience supporting compensation systems, including setup, testing, upkeep, and user process support; Dayforce experience is preferred.

Strong analytical background with experience applying quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, functions, pivot tables, and lookup features.

Ability to manage confidential HR and compensation information with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
