Our team is looking to add a Project Controls Manager in support of a major Program. What we do is more than construction; we play a part in moving a vision from concept to reality. As a key member of our team, you’ll provide the day-to-day leadership, support, and execution of project controls functions for various projects and programs. You will be responsible for budget/cost control, change management analysis, forecasting, and reporting.

The Project Controls Manager will be responsible for managing a group of project controls professionals and several departments including scheduling, cost controls, cost estimation, IT/Systems, PMIS, reporting, and document controls.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Point of contact for Operations, Project Managers, Project Director and client in all aspects relating to Project Controls Services.

  • Ensure alignment between project services, design, and construction teams to support the Program needs.

  • Attend and support Operations status review meetings.

  • Ensure the integrity of the project budget through approved scope changes.

  • Support estimate development.

  • Manage the effort to develop and maintain resource loaded P6 program master schedule.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on progress, cost and schedule variances, and forecasts.

  • Flag significant projected overruns or underruns.

  • Plan and budget the project controls resources and systems necessary to support the project.

  • Understand and stay current on business/industry trends and the implications for project controls functions.

  • Serve as the focal point for all matters relating to estimating, planning/scheduling, and cost control.

  • Create, implement, and execute project controls plan to support contract requirements and the successful execution of project controls.

  • Resolve issues and provide consistency between the cost control, planning/scheduling, and estimating functions and deliverables.

  • Analyze and evaluate project status and recommend corrective actions.

  • Monitor market conditions, pricing, and escalation indexes, and suggest escalation factors for future program works.

  • Perform senior project controls manager functions as required.

  • Deliver strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and within the client organization.

  • Create strong team building and people management skills and proven ability to acquire and retain talent and to mentor and develop talent.

To be successful in this role, you'll have the ability to travel as requested and work a Hybrid model coming in two days a week at our assigned Jacobs office nearest you. Ideally, you'll be based in the Midwest to travel to our client site as needed, and we may be open to being based in some Western states.

  • Fifteen years of progressive project controls experience with increasing responsibility and having worked on a large projects/program.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Project Management, Construction Management, (OR) equivalent relevant work experience.

  • Experience in cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, change management, risk management, cost analysis and variance analysis.

  • Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling projects, programs, and portfolios.

  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain standard program procedures for project controls.

  • Ability to develop and evaluate major program cost estimates and extended budget projections to identify and quantify critical budgetary, cost, schedule, technical, and programmatic risk factors

  • Experience building and maintaining Primavera P6 cost loaded and resource loaded schedules to support forecasting and multi-year planning.

  • Ability to present clear and concise presentations to Jacobs and Client management.
