Job SummaryProtect the Health and Safety of the University Community

The University of Kentucky is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to serve as a senior technical leader within Occupational Health and Safety, providing expertise in exposure assessment, occupational health programs, and regulatory compliance.

This role supports the health and safety of employees, students, patients, researchers, and visitors by identifying workplace hazards, evaluating risks, and implementing effective control measures. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted resource across research, healthcare, academic, and operational environments while leading programs that strengthen compliance and reduce occupational health risks.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead industrial hygiene programs focused on exposure assessment, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, indoor air quality, and radon mitigation

  • Conduct and oversee chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazard assessments across campus operations

  • Develop exposure monitoring strategies, sampling protocols, and risk assessments

  • Perform air monitoring, noise assessments, ventilation evaluations, and contamination investigations

  • Interpret regulatory requirements and provide technical guidance on occupational health risks and compliance obligations

  • Develop policies, procedures, training materials, and technical guidance documents

  • Maintain industrial hygiene equipment, monitoring tools, and exposure data systems

  • Analyze trends and program metrics to identify emerging risks and recommend program improvements

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental health and safety, or related fields

  • Strong understanding of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, AIHA, and other relevant standards and regulations

  • Expertise in exposure monitoring, hazard assessments, and risk evaluation

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Experience developing training programs, policies, and technical guidance

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working independently and collaboratively

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 4 years of related experience
