Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606) Accounting in a public accounting or multinational company setting.
Preferred qualifications:

Certified Public Accountant (CA) or equivalent.

Experience as a revenue recognition professional with agreement review experience in the ads or technology industry.

Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.

Ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.

Ability to remove and anticipate roadblocks with the potential to impede progress

You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.
As a Senior Controller for the GRAS (Geo, Revenue, Ads, Search) Business Controllership team, you will act as a trusted guardian and dedicated finance partner for key Google products. In this role, you will serve as the accounting subject-matter expert in your product area, actively partnering with Business Finance Officers (BFOs), Product, Engineering, Product Area Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Technical Accounting on non-standard commercial agreements, first-of-kind initiatives, and product launches. You will navigate complex accounting topics and deeply understand underlying business operations to translate product and agreement requirements into clear accounting guidance. Operating independently, you will advise on controllership frameworks and ensure a seamless to the core accounting teams for downstream execution, balancing business growth with financial integrity and robust risk mitigation.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $128000 - $187000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary controllership point-of-contact for GRAS business partners, Product Area (PA) finance, and cross-functional teams, advising on standard accounting requirements for new product rollouts across Google's monetization channels.

Analyze accounting treatments for complex, non-standard agreements under ASC 606, partnering with Technical Accounting to ensure system readiness and recommending agreement structure adjustments to reduce downstream friction.

Oversee business recognition processes, deliver through month-end close analysis, and prepare executive-level Profit and Loss (P&L) variance commentary and schedules for Controllership leadership.

Advocate process improvements to automate routine tasks, execute the advisory operating model, and support financial system rollouts including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for data integrity.

Advocate internal controls to ensure robust SOX compliance, support audit documentation, represent Controllership in working groups, and provide informal mentorship and onboarding for junior analysts.
