Job Description

We are seeking a Tool Engineer for a position to be the technical lead for the new Terminal High Area Altitude Defense (THAAD) Program Tooling Team. This position will support the Program production and development activities related to tooling and will involve design, procurement, internal manufacturing build, proposal, maintenance, supplier and production floor visits, defining/leading the path forward for the new group, and any other program related activity regarding tooling. The position requires frequent communication and collaboration with people located across the United States including other Manufacturing Engineers as well as other functions including Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Finance, Production Planning and Control, Contracts, and Program Management.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelors of Science in an engineering or technical field

  2. Ability to interpret drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, product/performance specifications, and other systems integration technical data

  3. 5+ years experience in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

  4. 5+ years experience with Pro-E/Creo/Windchill or other CAD system

  5. Knowledge of ASME Y14.5

  6. 5+ years experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  7. Ability to travel domestically

  8. Effective interpersonal skills, including team building and collaboration

  9. Demonstrated effective communication skills including verbal, listening, technical writing, and presentations

  10. Ability to receive DoD Secret clearance

Desired skills

  1. Has DoD Secret or above clearance

  2. Ability to travel internationally

  3. Masters degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering preferred

  4. Experience with LM tooling

  5. Knowledge of LM manufacturing and processes

  6. Knowledge of LM drawing release process

  7. Experience of LM Model Computer Aided Design (MCAD) process

  8. Experience with Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing

  9. Experience with SAP

  10. Experience with LM Property Management

  11. Experience in design for manufacturing

  12. Experience in machining, welding, and castings

  13. Demonstrated ability to evaluate the design activities and implementation of production process methodology to prevent impacts to production velocity and quality

  14. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex

  15. Demonstrated mechanical design, analysis, and test experience

  16. Proven ability to improve cost, schedule, quality, and/or safety
