Staff Engineer

Job Description

Overview We are seeking a Staff Engineer to establish internal technical ownership of SGWS's Liquid Program Management (LPM) and Program Experiences applications. This individual will be responsible for driving backend strategy, accelerating feature delivery, reducing production support burden, and helping SGWS transition away from vendor-owned knowledge. This role is approximately 50% hands-on development and 50% technical leadership/mentorship. The ideal candidate has experience creating shared backend services and microservices used across multiple teams, can identify opportunities for platform improvements, and approaches problems from a systems perspective rather than a single-team perspective. estimated pay is 70-78 hourly

Skills and Requirements

Requirements o Staff / Lead-level Engineer experience in an enterprise environment o Strong Rust development experience o AWS / cloud-native development o Experience building shared services – most important & non-negotiable o Experience supporting backend services at scale o Proven ability to drive technical direction and identify systemic improvements Pluses o JavaScript, Node.js, Python o Web applications o Microfrontend architecture
