Organization: SHSO-Sutter Health System Office-Valley Position Overview: Helps the Greater Sacramento Division team proactively inform, engage and align employees, physicians and leaders through strategic internal and executive communications. Develops and implements communication plans, leadership messaging, employee communications and executive visibility strategies that support organizational priorities. Manages internal communication channels, including division blogs, intranet platforms and editorial calendars, ensuring timely, consistent and engaging content. Partners with leaders and subject-matter experts to create clear, compelling communications that drive awareness, understanding and engagement. Leads communications support for organizational initiatives, growth and access projects, facility openings, milestone events and other strategic priorities. Provides communications counsel, identifies storytelling opportunities and leverages emerging trends to strengthen leadership visibility, employee connection and organizational culture. Job Description: This is a hybrid position that requires the selected candidate to work onsite as needed, primarily in Sacramento, for meetings and other business-related activities.
EDUCATION: Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations (PR) or related field
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
-
Knowledge of strategic communications planning, employee communications, executive communications, change communications, content strategy, editorial planning, and audience engagement.

Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to translate organizational priorities and complex information into clear, compelling communications for leaders, employees and other stakeholders.

Experience developing executive communications, including leadership messages, talking points, presentations, speeches, videos and town hall content.

Knowledge of managing internal communication channels, including intranet platforms, employee blogs, newsletters and digital communication tools.

Strong project management, consultation, relationship-building and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines and stakeholders simultaneously.

Ability to assess audience needs, behaviors and preferences and develop communication strategies that drive awareness, understanding, engagement and alignment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including working knowledge of SharePoint, intranet content management systems and digital publishing tools.

Knowledge of content performance metrics and communication best practices, with the ability to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Ability to adapt messaging and communication approaches for diverse audiences and evolving channels, including multimedia, video and digital content.

Experience supporting growth and access initiatives, organizational change, facility openings, milestone events, leadership transitions and other strategic priorities.

Ability to build collaborative relationships with executives, physicians, operational leaders, colleagues and external partners to achieve organizational goals.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team while exercising sound judgment, discretion and attention to detail.

Pay Range is $97,032.00 to $145,558.40 / annual salary The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
