Full job description

Description

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Network Technician to provide hands-on technical support for desktop systems, laptops, peripherals, and network connectivity across the organization. This role is responsible for troubleshooting end-user hardware and software issues while also supporting core network functions, including VPN access, wireless connectivity, routers, switches, and access points. The ideal candidate has strong desktop support experience combined with practical knowledge of networking technologies and a customer-service mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day desktop and network support for computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and related peripherals

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues for local and remote users

  • Diagnose and support network-related issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WAN connectivity, and wireless access

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, wireless access points, and network cabling as needed

  • Support Wi-Fi environments by resolving wireless connectivity, signal strength, authentication, and performance issues

  • Configure and troubleshoot VPN access for remote employees, including secure connectivity and multi-factor authentication support

  • Assist with basic network monitoring, port activation, patching, and escalation of infrastructure issues to senior network or systems administrators

  • Install, configure, image, and deploy desktop and laptop systems, including operating systems, software, and user profiles

  • Respond to service desk tickets and document technical issues, root causes, and resolutions in the ticketing system

  • Set up and support new user onboarding and offboarding, including device provisioning, account setup, and equipment recovery

  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, patching, and inventory tracking for desktop and network equipment

  • Deliver strong customer service and technical support in on-site, remote, and hybrid work environments

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in desktop support, network support, or technical support roles

  • Hands-on experience with Windows environments, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and help desk ticketing systems

  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and devices, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi, routers, switches, and wireless access points

  • Experience troubleshooting remote connectivity and user access issues in hybrid environments

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar credentials are a plus
