About the Position:

Safety Supervisor

  • Provide leadership and support to improve safety performance across assigned business areas and help strengthen employee accountability for safety.

  • Assist operating groups in planning, conducting, and evaluating safety meetings and safety committee activities.

  • Interpret federal, state, and company safety requirements and recommend appropriate compliance strategies.

  • Conduct field safety observations, identify risks, and provide timely feedback and recommendations to employees and leaders.

  • Deliver constructive coaching and guidance to employees and leadership on safe work practices and behavioral safety principles.

  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development to prevent recurrence.

  • Analyze injury, incident, and exposure data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and administration of injury prevention, hazard recognition, and safety improvement programs.

  • Support the administration of safety recognition programs.

  • Participate in safety-related projects and initiatives and collaborate with other safety professionals to develop consistent practices and solutions across the organization.

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Safety Supervisor

  • Serve as a recognized safety subject matter expert and strategic safety partner for operations leadership.

  • Lead complex incident investigations, trend analyses, and corrective action development efforts across multiple business units.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs, standards, and initiatives.

  • Mentor Safety Supervisors and operational leaders in regulatory compliance, risk identification, safety leadership, and injury prevention strategies.

  • Provide advanced interpretation and application of OSHA, DOT, PHMSA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Lead cross-functional safety initiatives and special projects focused on reducing organizational risk and improving safety performance.

  • Present safety performance metrics, recommendations, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.

  • Drive consistency in safety practices and expectations across operating regions and departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Safety Supervisor

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Business, or a related field required.

  • Three or more years of safety, utility operations, industrial, construction, or related experience required.

  • Working knowledge of occupational safety regulations and safety management principles.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or other relevant certification preferred.

Senior Safety Supervisor

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Business, or a related field and five or more years of progressively responsible safety experience; OR

  • Master's degree in Safety or related field and three or more years of progressively responsible safety experience.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of OSHA, DOT, PHMSA, and other applicable safety regulations.

  • Experience leading significant safety programs, investigations, and organizational improvement initiatives.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred.

  • Previous leadership, mentoring, project leadership, or supervisory experience preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and influence skills with the ability to build productive relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively in a geographically dispersed team environment.

  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • This is field based job. The successful candidate will need to travel to locations across the territory to support their operational customers.

  • Ability to support storm restoration, emergency response activities, and other business-critical events requiring extended work hours, travel, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

This position works in both office and field environments, mostly with field facing co-workers. Occasional overtime, overnight travel, and participation in emergency response efforts could be required. The successful candidate must be capable of supporting major storm restoration and emergency operations, which may require extended work hours, weekends, holidays, and travel outside the assigned territory.

Compensation Range:

$84,400.00 - $137,200.00

  • This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
