Summary The selectee of this position serves as a Supervisory Prisoner Transportation Specialist responsible for managing and coordinating the JPATS transportation scheduling program. This position is located in the Justice Prisoner and Air Transportation System (JPATS) division in Kansas City, MO. Pay charts: Kansas City, MO $108,173.00 - $140,627.00 Oklahoma City, OK (Locality Pay Area of Rest of U.S.) $106,437.00 - $138,370.00 Responsibilities As a Supervisory Prisoner Transportation Specialist at the GS-0301-13 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide technical guidance and expertise regarding the movement of federal prisoners and detainees; state and local government prisoners; and United States Military prisoners. Appraise the JPATS transportation program to ascertain if the program is operating effectively and efficiently and recommends changes and improvements. Participate in special studies and analysis of prisoner scheduling in order to improve the ability of JPATS to effectively carryout the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security detention management programs. Establish priorities and assign work to subordinates; evaluate work performance of subordinates; interview candidates for positions; and identify developmental and training needs of subordinates and take initiative to provide identified needs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit Promotion applicants must provide a copy of your SF-50 Notice of Personnel Action that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, type of service (Competitive or Excepted) and career status (career or career-conditional). No award SF-50 will be accepted as proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. One year at the GS-12 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 grade level. AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the education and/or experience required for the grade level(s) to which you apply. To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: Provide advice and training to personnel regarding policies, restrictions, applicable laws for prisoner transportation activities; Analyze prisoner transportation program processes to recommend changes for improvements; Prepare and coordinate trips for the transportation of prisoners to pretrial hearings, competency examination, trials, etc. Maintain the security and safety of personnel, prisoners, and the public during trips by following organizational policy and procedures.
