Description

We are looking for a Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations for a manufacturing facility in Kernersville, North Carolina. This position suits a detail-oriented accounting leader who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting ownership with team guidance and cross-functional partnership. The role will play a key part in strengthening reporting, supporting plant leadership, and improving financial processes in a dynamic production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily accounting activities, including general ledger oversight, closing activities, reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.

  • Lead, coach, and support accounting staff while actively contributing to core accounting work.

  • Maintain reliable financial reporting by enforcing internal controls and ensuring adherence to company standards and reporting obligations.

  • Prepare and support budgets, forecasts, and variance reviews to help plant leadership evaluate business performance.

  • Work closely with operations, engineering, production, and site leadership to provide financial insight that supports better decisions.

  • Monitor inventory valuation, manufacturing expenses, and product cost data to promote accuracy across plant reporting.

  • Review bills of materials and coordinate with operational teams to keep costing inputs aligned with production and engineering changes.

  • Contribute to pricing and cost analysis, including evaluation of imported product costs when applicable.

  • Recommend and implement workflow enhancements, automation opportunities, and stronger accounting processes to improve efficiency.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing, plant accounting, or a production environment.

  • Strong grounding in technical accounting principles with the ability to stay hands-on in daily financial operations.

  • Experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial analysis within a manufacturing setting.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability, either through prior team management or readiness to step into a lead role.

  • Familiarity with pricing analysis and product costing; experience with landed cost considerations is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP is required; additional exposure to international reporting practices is beneficial.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems or large-scale accounting platforms is helpful, though specific system experience is not mandatory.
