RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY:

  • Leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of process and performance improvement initiatives across clinical, operational, and support areas within the Medicine division. Applies quality engineering and performance improvement methodologies to optimize workflows, reduce process variation, improve quality and patient outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency in support of the strategic goals, objectives, and mission of The Queen's Medical Center (QMC) and The Queen's Health Systems (QHS).

  • Serves as a key resource to medical staff, clinical programs, and operational departments by applying process engineering principles, evidence-based methodologies, data-driven analysis, and structured improvement frameworks to support regulatory compliance, optimize care delivery, and enhance patient outcomes. Leads, designs, and facilitates key clinical and operational performance improvement initiatives, including process redesign, workflow optimization, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, quality improvement projects, outcomes improvement initiatives, and operational excellence efforts. Partners with multidisciplinary stakeholders to identify system inefficiencies, reduce variation, implement sustainable solutions, and achieve measurable quality, safety, service, and financial outcomes.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a health care profession, engineering, or biology.

  • Master's degree in a health care related field preferred.

B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

  • Current licensure as a clinical professional (e.g., nursing, physician assistant, physical therapist, occupational therapist, etc) or Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

  • Certification from the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) preferred.

C. EXPERIENCE:

  • In addition to the certification requirement, two (2) years licensed clinical experience or process improvement experience using Lean Six Sigma methodologies (i.e. DMAIC, DFSS, Kaizen), preferably in an acute care setting.

  • Experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, and performance dashboards.

  • Demonstrated experience with word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Minitab, SQL based tools, and database systems preferred.

  • Experience in root cause analysis, FMEA, CAPA, and cross functional project leadership strongly preferred.
