Summary

About the Position: This position is located at National Capital Region, Naval Health Clinic Annapolis, in Annapolis, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

• Provide information to patients on proper use of medications, referring questions requiring professional knowledge and experience to a registered pharmacist.
• Review profile in computer system for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and for duplicate orders.
• Set up prescriptions by obtaining correct stock containers, counting or pouring correct amount of medication, and placing medication in smaller containers.
• Consults with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
• Respond to both oral and/or written requests for medication in a timely manner.
• Ensures correct medication is placed in a properly labeled container and dispensed to the correct customer.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes verifying accuracy of pharmaceutical labels; utilizing automated pharmacy systems to enter and retrieve data; and rotating pharmacy stock. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. State Pharmacy License is preferred but not required.
