Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Laboratory I Georgetown, KY

Shifts & Hours:

First shift part-time (7a-7pm)

Third shift full-time (7p-7a)

PRN Days & Nights

Description:

Maintains technical competency as related to the job functions.

Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.

Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated.

Identifies and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.

Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results.

Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.

Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.

Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration and takes appropriate action.

Handles troubleshooting professionally and communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.

Expected to utilize complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.

Requirements:

Associate's degree.

Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies.

Clinical Laboratory Science Certified within 1 year.
