Full job description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist to serve as an independent contractor conducting Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) disability assessments . This role is ideal for professionals seeking flexibility, autonomy, and a meaningful way to support our nation's Veterans.
?? Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive eye exams and visual function evaluations in accordance with VBA protocols

Assess service-connected conditions such as ocular trauma, refractive errors, retinal disease, and other vision-related impairments

Document findings using standardized reporting formats—no treatment or follow-up care required

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working with sensitive Veteran health information
?? Qualifications

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution

Active and unrestricted license to practice optometry in the state of service

Prior experience with VA or disability assessments preferred but not required

Strong clinical documentation and interpersonal skills
