What's the job?

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Purchasing Agent to manage procurement activities for our Wayne, NJ and Orange, CT facilities. This role is responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor management, contract administration, competitive bidding, cost reduction initiatives, and purchasing compliance. The Purchasing Agent will partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers to optimize spending, improve service levels, mitigate risk, and ensure adherence to company procurement policies and procedures. -The ideal candidate will also bring experience leading organizational change, driving adoption of new processes and technologies, and influencing stakeholders through procurement transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchasing activities and strategic sourcing initiatives.

  • Build and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Lead RFQs, RFPs, and bid processes for operational and capital projects.

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, supplier requirements, and company standards.

  • Analyze spend data to drive sourcing strategies, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.

  • Administer contracts and supplier agreements, including vendor onboarding and performance management.

  • Support procurement systems and digital purchasing tools to improve efficiency and compliance.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve purchasing, invoicing, and supply issues.

  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and documentation to support audit requirements.

  • Deliver training and guidance to site stakeholders on purchasing processes and best practices.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, project management, or a related field.

  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and contract administration skills.

  • Experience leading competitive bid processes and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement systems.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, drive change, and work collaboratively across teams.

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $81,500 to $126,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $89,650 to $139,150. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
