The primary purpose of this position is to provide developmental experience designed to broaden the skills and/or enhance the leadership perspective of an identified high-potential, mid-level manager/executive; it is not a continuing position, assignment duration is NTE 36 months.
Duties
Performs career broadening assignments in the development, analysis, and maintenance of program information. Performs career broadening assignments involving researching, analyzing, understanding and implementing Squadron-wide programs. Conducts, leads, and/or participates in studies to improve assigned programs. Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience include expert knowledge of the federal laws, policies, and directives governing Force Support Programs, coupled with a deep understanding of manpower, personnel, education, readiness, and services operations. This foundational expertise is paired with the advanced skill set required to develop complex operational plans, evaluate program accomplishments, and provide authoritative guidance on implementing agency-level policies and demonstrate strong analytical capabilities in gathering data, identifying trends, and formulating strategic recommendations to resolve intricate program challenges and establish innovative methodologies FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-12 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of manpower, personnel, education, family & readiness, instructional systems, and/or services operations, directives, administrative functions of programs, and procedures. 2. Knowledge of budgetary, and resource management practices and principles. 3. Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing data/facts, developing conclusions, identifying trends, developing alternatives/solutions, and making recommendations to resolve problems. 4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to maintain good working relations; motivate and guide others toward goals accomplishment; and to properly package briefings, papers, or reports suitable for management use and decision-making. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
