Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, College of Arts and Sciences ( CAS ), the Associate Director of Development, CAS , is responsible for identifying and qualifying prospects, soliciting and closing four and five-figure philanthropic gifts, and assisting major gift officers to build a pipeline of major gifts prospects/donors to advance the strategic priorities of CAS .

Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Development, College of Arts and Sciences will:

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned leadership annual gift prospects. Through personal and virtual engagement, identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward prospects for leadership and potential major gifts to meet and exceed revenue and activity goals in support of CAS .

  • Collaborate appropriately and effectively with College departments and University Advancement colleagues to help engage donors and prospects in ways that advance Loyola’s leadership annual gift level fundraising objectives for CAS .

  • Offer prospect strategy counsel, coordinate appointments, and prepare any required materials for prospect meetings or phone calls involving the Dean, alumni volunteers, faculty, and/or other senior administrators. Ensure compliance with prospect management guidelines for data entry and metric tracking.

  • Attend regularly scheduled University and Advancement meetings.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • 3-5 years of experience in Development or a related field required.

  • A proven commitment to diversity, the will to embrace diversity in all aspects, and demonstrated success in recruiting, retaining, and building a diverse development team.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Higher Hducation strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Experience working in Alumni Relations, Public Relations, Communications, Event Planning, and volunteer organizational work is strongly preferred.

  • Personal belief in the mission, goals, and objectives of private higher education and Loyola University Chicago.

  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.

  • Prior experience working with staff and volunteers, the ability to manage complex relationships, and proven collaboration and teamwork skills in a diverse community to leverage activities, initiatives, and programs for multiple purposes.

  • Understanding of the “Moves Management” process or other proven relationship-management processes/philosophies and ability to think and work strategically.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, set priorities, and collaborate within a diverse community.

  • Proficiency with fundraising databases and technology.
