Trade Compliance Specialist

OVERVIEW Cadrex is searching for a Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for serving as the Mexico-based execution control point for Cadrex’s Trade Compliance, responsible for managing compliant import and export execution across IMMEX operations. The position performs tariff classification, origin review, USMCA/T-MEC analysis, valuation validation, broker coordination, and pedimento/document control for Mexico trade flows. This role supports high-volume Mexico import activity, including U.S.–Mexico flows, Laredo consolidations, and direct imports from global suppliers, and is responsible for preventing misclassification, duty exposure, documentation defects, and border delays through strong local execution and control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate directly with Mexico customs brokers to manage import/export filings (pedimentos) and ensure accurate classification, valuation, documentation, and compliance
• Act as primary point of contact for border issues, including delays, documentation defects, and customs holds
• Drive resolution of clearance issues with brokers and internal stakeholders
• Monitor broker performance and identify recurring defects in execution and documentation
• Perform tariff classification for Mexico import/export transactions and validate correct tariff treatment
• Perform USMCA/T-MEC analysis including origin review and documentation validation
• Ensure proper application of preferential treatment claims with broker coordination
• Identify and escalate discrepancies in classification or origin prior to customs submission
• Review and validate customs valuation for Mexico import transactions, including intercompany pricing, freight components, and declared customs values
• Ensure alignment between invoices, pedimentos, and supporting documentation
• Validate data integrity for consolidated shipments, direct imports, and related customs documentation
• Support IMMEX/maquila program execution, including documentation accuracy and compliance alignment
• Coordinate Mexico trade execution across U.S.–Mexico flows and direct global imports
• Ensure consistent application of trade requirements across brokers, sites, and internal stakeholders
• Maintain audit-ready documentation, record retention, and compliance files
• Support internal and external audit readiness activities
• Track recurring defects and support corrective action and process improvements
• Assist in standardizing broker instructions and documentation processes

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or cross-border logistics within Mexico
• Strong knowledge of Mexico customs processes
• Experience performing tariff classification and origin analysis
• Experience supporting USMCA/T-MEC execution and documentation requirements
• Working knowledge of customs valuation in cross-border transactions including intercompany pricing and freight components
• Experience supporting IMMEX/maquila operations
• Experience managing U.S.–Mexico cross-border flows and resolving clearance issues
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to collaborate across operations, brokers, and U.S.-based teams
• Bilingual Spanish/English
• Experience in manufacturing or IMMEX-driven environments
• Familiarity with FTZ-related cross-border coordination
• Experience supporting audits and compliance documentation

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
