This role oversees invoice processing, team performance, vendor payments, and control procedures while supporting accurate financial reporting and dependable cash flow management. The position is well suited for a hands-on leader who can guide process improvements, collaborate across departments, and contribute to broader accounting and operational needs as priorities shift.
Responsibilities:
-
Lead daily accounts payable activities for a high-volume environment, ensuring invoices and payments move through the process accurately and on schedule.
-
Oversee and coach two direct reports, setting clear expectations and supporting their ongoing development and productivity.
-
Approve large monthly invoice volumes, expense submissions, and payment batches while confirming proper coding, authorization, and policy compliance.
-
Coordinate recurring payment cycles, including check and ACH disbursements, to maintain timely and accurate vendor settlements.
-
Review vendor balances, investigate exceptions, and work with internal teams and external partners to resolve billing or payment concerns.
-
Maintain reliable vendor records and enforce controls around supplier setup, updates, and documentation.
-
Contribute to month-end and year-end close by preparing reconciliations, supporting accruals, and supplying requested audit materials.
-
Strengthen accounts payable procedures by identifying efficiency gains, improving reporting, and supporting future implementation of systems such as NetSuite or Concur when needed.
-
Assist with related accounting and operational projects, including tax reporting requirements such as 1099, 1042, and applicable sales and use tax filing
Requirements
-
Must have at least 5 years of accounts payable leadership responsibility in a supervisory or management capacity.
-
Proven ability to manage high-volume invoice processing within a complex or multi-entity business environment.
-
Strong knowledge of accounts payable workflows, internal controls, and foundational accounting principles.
-
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis techniques.
-
Experience with ERP or AP automation platforms; exposure to NetSuite and Concur is highly valued, and implementation involvement is a strong advantage.
-
Capability to oversee invoice coding, check runs, ACH activity, reconciliations, and vendor account maintenance with a high level of accuracy.
-
Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the flexibility to support both accounting and operational needs.
-
