Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Dentistry, Department of Primary Care Dentistry at Bethesda, Maryland. Primary Care Dentistry Department provides specialty dental services in high volume environment. Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 4:00PM This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Assemble, maintain, and retrieve outpatient records.
  • Organize and check medical and dental records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Pull charts in advance for various clinic appointments and prepares routine laboratory and x-ray request forms for the dentists and physicians.
  • Complete necessary documentation and forms for processing and shipment as needed.
  • Identify and directs patients to the appropriate clinic/ancillary service.
  • Prepares correspondence, reports and other material, and releases medical and dental information in accordance with (IAW) current Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines.
  • Greet outpatients and reviews appropriate documents.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes following policies and procedures such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) guidelines; providing front desk operations; and generating entries utilizing automated healthcare systems such as MHS Genesis and/or Dentrix. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Preferred but not required: Experience with Military Dentistry Records.
