Behavior Technician - School Based

Contract Length: 36 Weeks

Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Interview Process: Virtual interview with client

Position Overview

The Behavior Technician works to facilitate educational and behavioral services for children and adults with special needs. This position collaborates with teachers, special education staff, and behavioral specialists to help students achieve academic, behavioral, and social goals.

This school-based role will support elementary-aged students with significant support needs. The Behavior Technician will provide individualized assistance to help students safely and successfully access the educational environment while promoting independence, participation, and skill development.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support for students with significant support needs.

  • Assist students with academic tasks and classroom participation.

  • Implement behavior support strategies and interventions.

  • Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.

  • Assist with personal care needs as required.

  • Promote student independence and engagement in school activities.

  • Collaborate with special education teachers and school staff to support student success.

  • Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.

  • Document and communicate student progress and observations as directed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required.

  • Two years of pediatric experience preferred.

  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.

  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, if applicable.

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Experience working with students with significant support needs.

  • Strong behavioral support and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff.

  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable supporting students with academic, behavioral, social, and personal care needs.

Additional Information

  • Average caseload of approximately 10 students.

  • Business casual dress code.

  • Timekeeping completed through MaxView Timeclock.

  • Virtual interview required prior to placement.
