Physical AI Expert/Advisor

Job Description

Day to Day: Insight Global is looking to hire a Physical AI Expert/Advisor for one of our clients, sitting 100% remote. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and technical teams, providing strategic guidance across the rapidly evolving Physical AI landscape. The ideal candidate is a recognized thought leader with deep expertise in Physical AI, robotics, embodied AI, robot learning, foundation models, and autonomous systems. They will help shape technical roadmaps, evaluate emerging technologies, provide industry insight, and advise on the development and commercialization of next-generation Physical AI solutions.

This is a flexible, part-time advisory engagement averaging 15-20 hours per month. Support may include participating in strategic discussions, reviewing technical initiatives, evaluating new capabilities, providing guidance on simulation and deployment environments, and delivering recommendations tied to specific project needs.

Responsibilities include:

• Advise leadership on Physical AI strategy, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
• Review technical roadmaps and provide recommendations on future product capabilities and research priorities.
• Provide expertise on robotics, embodied AI, robot learning, foundation models, and autonomous systems.
• Evaluate approaches for deploying AI models from simulation environments to real-world physical platforms.
• Advise on software solutions and development environments used for modeling, simulation, and validation of Physical AI systems.
• Provide guidance on AI governance, safety considerations, and regulatory frameworks related to deploying AI in the physical world.
• Assess emerging technologies and competitive activity within the Physical AI ecosystem.
• Participate in leadership meetings, technical reviews, and quarterly planning sessions as needed.
• Develop recommendations, technical assessments, and other advisory deliverables tied to defined project tasking.
• Leverage industry relationships and professional networks to provide insight into market trends, research advancements, and commercialization opportunities.

Compensation: $350/hr to $450/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements

Must Haves:

• Internationally recognized expert in Robotics, Embodied AI, Robot Learning, Foundation Models, Autonomous Systems, and/or Physical AI.

• 10+ years of leadership experience within research institutions, major AI labs, robotics startups, or Fortune 500 innovation organizations.

• Deep expertise across the Physical AI lifecycle, including AI model development, simulation environments, testing and validation, and deployment onto physical robotic or autonomous systems.

• Recognized leadership within the Physical AI community, demonstrated through industry speaking engagements, publications, research contributions, media presence, and active participation in the field.

• Demonstrated impact through publications, patents, startup formation, commercial deployments, industry standards contributions, conference speaking engagements, or other thought leadership activities.

• Strong professional network across academia, industry, venture capital, and the broader Physical AI ecosystem.

• PhD or equivalent industry distinction in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field. Plusses:

• Prior advisory experience.

• Experience productizing Physical AI solutions, including developing software for advanced modeling, simulation, testing, and deployment of AI-enabled physical systems using platforms such as NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, Unity, or similar technologies.

• Experience founding or scaling venture-backed startups.

• Track record of technology transfer from research to commercial deployment.

• Experience with World Foundation Models, Visual-Language-Action (VLA) systems, or humanoid robotics.
