Description
Position is responsible for leading sideline cheerleading practices alongside the head coach, and teaching volunteers and participants the necessary techniques to prepare participants for youth football game performances.
Schedule will be Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:00pm - 8:30pm Sept 1- October 16, and 3 hours each Saturday morning from Sept 12 - October 17 for youth football game dates at which the cheer program will perform. Preference given to those with availability on Wednesday evenings from 6pm-8pm for MS cheer performances as well.
Essential Job Functions

Works with cheerleaders & volunteer coaches during practices and events.

Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide appropriate team development.

Works with the program supervisor in scheduling facilities for practices.

Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.

Follows state, regional, and City of East Grand Rapids regulations.

Models good sportsmanship behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, staff, parents, and spectators.

Attends all scheduled practices and games at which the cheerleading program is participating.

Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-
Some experience as a sideline or competitive cheerleader coach preferred.

Past experience as a sideline cheerleader preferred.

Knowledge of sideline cheers to be used for instructional purposes.

Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department staff, volunteers, parents, and students.

Must complete/meet all requirements of the employee hiring process.
