Full job description
Description
Our client, a San Francisco-based healthcare AI company, is seeking a temporary Legal Operations Paralegal to support a focused legal infrastructure project anticipated to last approximately 2–4 weeks. This contractor will work closely with internal stakeholders to build and populate the company's core legal folder system, consolidate historical legal documentation, and establish a structure for maintaining legal records going forward.
The company has developed an initial framework for how it would like its legal documentation organized and is seeking an experienced paralegal or legal operations professional who can both execute the buildout and provide recommendations based on prior experience. The ideal candidate is meticulous, systems-oriented, and experienced working with corporate legal documentation, with the judgment to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or opportunities to improve the proposed structure.
Responsibilities
-
Build and populate a centralized legal folder and document management structure within Google Drive
-
Gather and consolidate historical legal documents, agreements, corporate records, and related materials currently maintained across multiple sources and systems
-
Review legal documentation for completeness and consistency, proactively identifying missing information, discrepancies, or organizational gaps
-
Organize and categorize legal materials using consistent folder structures, naming conventions, and documentation standards
-
Partner closely with internal stakeholders to obtain documents and information needed to create a comprehensive legal record
-
Evaluate the company's proposed legal folder structure and recommend practical improvements based on prior experience and legal operations best practices
-
Help establish a clear process for maintaining and updating the legal repository going forward
-
Develop supporting workflows, documentation, and standard operating procedures to promote consistency and ongoing maintenance
-
Provide recommendations regarding systems, tools, or frameworks that could support the company's legal operations as the function continues to develop
Requirements
-
Prior paralegal or legal operations experience within a law firm, in-house legal department, or corporate environment
-
Experience building, organizing, or maintaining legal document repositories, data rooms, corporate records, or similar legal filing systems
-
Familiarity with corporate legal documentation and the ability to recognize missing, inconsistent, or improperly organized records
-
Experience developing or improving legal filing structures, document management processes, workflows, or related systems
-
Strong systems orientation with the ability to assess an existing framework, identify opportunities for improvement, and independently execute against an agreed-upon structure
-
Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize and reconcile large volumes of legal documentation
-
Ability to work independently, move quickly, and take ownership of a defined project with minimal ramp-up time
-
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with business stakeholders and legal professionals in a fast-paced environment
-
Prior experience supporting corporate legal matters in both law firm and in-house environments is preferred
-
Experience supporting a startup, technology company, healthcare organization, or international business environment is a plus
-
Ability to start ASAP and report onsite in San Francisco five days per week for the duration of the assignment
