Casual (PRN/As Needed)

Looking for flexibility while advancing your imaging career? UPMC Muncy is seeking a CT Technologist to join our Imaging Services team on a casual basis. We welcome applicants at all levels of the CT Technologist career ladder and offer the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team dedicated to exceptional patient care.

This position provides flexible scheduling with coverage opportunities across all shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Schedule

  • Casual, as-needed position

What You'll Do

As a CT Technologist, you'll perform advanced diagnostic imaging procedures that help physicians diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions. You'll combine technical expertise with compassionate patient care to deliver an exceptional experience for every patient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform computed tomography (CT) procedures utilizing established imaging protocols with minimal supervision.

  • Administer oral, rectal, and intravenous contrast media in accordance with physician orders and departmental policies.

  • Assess patients for potential risk factors prior to contrast administration.

  • Operate advanced imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, reconstruct, and document high-quality diagnostic images.

  • Utilize independent judgment to adjust scanning protocols and optimize image quality while ensuring patient safety.

  • Perform venipuncture and safely operate power injectors according to departmental and manufacturer guidelines.

  • Verify patient identity utilizing two patient identifiers and follow all universal safety protocols.

  • Review physician orders, patient histories, and clinical information to ensure appropriate imaging studies are performed.

  • Accurately document patient information and imaging procedures in the electronic medical record.

  • Ensure exams are properly coded, tracked, archived, and transmitted through RIS and PACS systems for interpretation.

  • Clearly explain procedures, answer questions, and help alleviate patient anxiety throughout the imaging process.

  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide efficient, high-quality care.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect in every patient interaction.

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.

  • ARRT registry-eligible candidates are welcome to apply and must obtain ARRT certification within 6 months of hire.

  • Graduates of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program must obtain Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTCB/CNMT) within 6 months of hire.

  • CT certification is required within 18 months of obtaining the primary registry credential or within 18 months of hire if the primary registry has already been obtained.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.

  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

  • ARRT Certification or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTCB/CNMT) required within designated timelines.

  • CT Registry required within 18 months of obtaining primary registry certification or hire date, as applicable.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required within 30 days of hire. Certification must meet American Heart Association (AHA) standards and include both classroom instruction and hands-on skills demonstration.

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Certification (with renewal)

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance (with renewal)

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance (with renewal)

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprint Clearance (with renewal)
