NEW Pathways Opportunity! Train to become a Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist

Our Pathways Programs are designed to support individuals who want to grow in healthcare by providing training, mentorship, and hands-on experience. Participants receive the resources and encouragement needed to build valuable clinical skills while advancing their careers.

Selected candidates will be enrolled in the Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences 7-week Phlebotomy Certificate Program while gaining practical experience within our laboratory team.

Responsibilities

  • Performs venous, arterial, and capillary blood collection, as well as specimen processing and delivery within the laboratory.

  • Ensures accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, and adherence to collection protocols with strong attention to detail.

  • Maintains knowledge of departmental functions, policies, and procedures, including AIDET and FOCUS values.

  • Provides education and guidance to staff and supports a positive team environment.

  • Assists in training new employees, offering support and instruction to ensure competency.

  • Complies with all quality assurance (QA) procedures and laboratory service standards.

  • Performs technical procedures within required turnaround times for assigned areas.

  • Monitors and follows technical practices to meet regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CAP, JCAHO).

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Phlebotomy course, Medical Assistant, Associate of Arts is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilites:

  • Communication skills including reading, writing, & speaking fluent English

  • Customer/Patient Focused

  • Interpersonal Skills and Self-Development
