Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Researcher is responsible for assisting in managing research projects, supporting research associates, and analyzing and reporting research results. Techniques used include epidemiology, bio-statistical analysis, outcomes study design, and computer-based analytic tools.

This position has two (2) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experience. Progression between job levels is based on the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services:

1. Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences (e.g. Psychology, Anthropology, Epidemiology, Pre-Med, Biostatistics), Social Work, or related field; OR equivalent training and experience.

2. Two (2) years of health-related research experience supporting or conducting research studies including statistical analyses.

Additional Qualifications for Researcher II: Meets all requirements of Researcher I in addition to the following:

1. Two (2) years’ experience leading and developing research studies OR demonstrated proficiency as a Researcher I at SCF.

2. One (1) first author published manuscript.

Native Preference:

Under P.L. 93-638, as amended, the company pursues a policy of Native preference in hiring, contracting and training. SCF Human Resources must receive certification before applicants receive preference.

New employees must complete all required health screenings and immunizations before their first day of work. Current employees must complete any additional screenings or immunizations that become necessary due to workplace conditions, public health concerns, or newly available vaccines that help protect coworkers and the community.
