About the Team:
Our Supply Chain team mission is to provide top notch service to our stores and purchasing teams- contributing to the goal to make Grocery Outlet the first choice for bargain minded customers while touching lives for the better. Our team oversees the successful movement of products from our vendors to our stores and is self-motivated, passionate, and dedicated.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Fleet Strategy & Compliance to centrally lead and standardize our private fleet program across three regions (NorCal, PNW, East Coast). This role will own enterprise fleet compliance, safety performance, technology systems, and program governance for fleet drivers, ensuring a safe, compliant, and cost-effective operation that supports reliable store delivery.
This leader will build scalable processes, implement best-in-class safety and compliance programs, and serve as the subject matter expert for all private fleet governance. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Transportation.
Responsibilities Include:
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

Own DOT/FMCSA compliance across all regions

Ensure adherence to HOS, ELD, DVIR, drug & alcohol, driver qualification files, and audit readiness

Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits and inspections

Monitor and manage CSA scores, OOS rates, and regulatory risk exposure

Partner with Legal and HR on compliance investigations and corrective actions
Safety & Risk Management
-
Develop and lead enterprise safety strategy for private fleet
-
Standardize incident review, preventability determination, and corrective action processes

Analyze accident trends and implement targeted improvement initiatives
-
Oversee driver safety training standards and onboarding requirements
-
Partner with insurance providers on claims management and risk mitigation
Fleet Program Governance & Standardization

Establish and enforce fleet SOPs across all regions
-
Standardize driver onboarding, training, and performance management frameworks
-
Define and manage KPIs: preventable accident rate, CSA scores, on-time delivery (fleet-controlled), cost per mile, utilization & backhaul metrics

Ensure consistent execution across DCs while respecting local operational needs
Fleet Technology & Data

Own enterprise fleet technology stack (ELD, telematics, camera systems, fleet analytics tools)

Partner with BT and Transportation on TMS integration and data visibility
-
Leverage data to drive safety improvements and operational efficiency
-
Identify and implement technology enhancements as the fleet scales
Cross-Functional Leadership

Serve as the enterprise fleet SME for Operations, Transportation, HR, Legal, and Finance
-
Influence regional DC leaders to ensure compliance and program adoption
-
Support fleet budgeting, insurance renewals, and equipment standardization decisions
-
Contribute to fleet growth planning and capital planning discussions
About The Pay:

Base Salary Range: $135,000 - $155,000 Annually

Final compensation will be determined based upon experience and skills and may vary based on location.
About You:
-
7+ years in fleet operations, transportation compliance, or safety leadership
-
Deep knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and audit processes
-
Experience managing multi-site fleet programs
-
Strong analytical skills with experience using telematics and safety data
-
Proven ability to influence cross-functional partners without direct authority
Preferred:
-
CDL license, including past driving experience
-
Experience in grocery, retail distribution, or high-frequency delivery networks
-
Experience scaling a private fleet program
-
Familiarity with TMS systems and fleet technology platforms
-
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Transportation, Business, or related field
-
