Job Description:

Mechanical Engineer, Part-Time - Decatur, IL

This is a permanent, part-time, non-exempt level position located at our Decatur, IL complex.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design calculations and evaluations under supervision of the MPP Manager

  • Coordinate with other disciplines to complete design deliverables:

  • Work with MPP CAD department on projects

  • Work with other departments and disciplines for project execution

  • Responsible for development of mechanical design drawings & review of CAD deliverables

  • Produce deliverables for mechanical design work

  • Perform reviews of project documents produced by CAD to ensure adherence to engineering design parameters

  • Assist other mechanical engineers/designers with engineering related functions

  • Responsible for layout, analysis, and designing of piping systems, including pipe supports and interpretation of piping stress analysis reports for incorporation into piping design

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering

  • PE in Mechanical Engineering

  • 15+ years of related experience

  • Competent with the design, operation, installation, and applications of the following: process pumps, B31.3 / B31.1 piping, A.S.M.E. Code pressure vessels.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Design skills for plant layout, process piping, and mechanical equipment on heavy industrial or food processing plants

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical construction documents

  • Experience with P&IDs, valves, flanges, pipe fittings

  • Knowledge of various relevant standards (PIP, etc.) as required for piping design

  • Knowledge of AutoPIPE (or similar) software for performing pipe stress analysis

  • Experience with chemical plant operations and maintenance

  • Experience with pressurized steam piping

  • Knowledge of pressure vessel design

  • General knowledge of design codes (ASME, API)

  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage

  • Ability to communicate well with multiple teams

  • Able to multitask and switch priorities between multiple on-going projects

  • Excellence in Microsoft Office products (emphasis on Word and Excel)

  • Passion for heat transfer and fluid flow

  • Actively pursuing path towards engineering/project management certification

Compensation is an hourly rate and dependent upon experience: $75.00-125.00/hourly.

ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
