Job Duties

HealthPartners is hiring for a full-time LPN working in the Urogynecology department.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Current LPN licensure in Minnesota.

Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross maintained (Online BLS certification is not acceptable.).

Demonstration of written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of full time employment as an LPN.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Possess speech, hearing, and sight skills to perform the functions of the position.

Manual dexterity.

Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently.

Proficiency in other languages may be required.

Some positions may have lifting requirements.

Position Purpose:

Service excellence is to be centered on patient care and patient relationships and is the responsibility of all employees. Teamwork is the norm and all employees will be held accountable to work as effective team members. This role will effectively provide a quality level of service to both internal and external customers, and carry out nursing tasks and medical orders as delegated by physicians and registered nurses to support patient care.

Accountabilities:

Nursing Process:

Definition: a licensed practical nurse uses the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) under the supervision of an RN or physician in order to provide continuing healthcare to individuals, families, and the community.

Identify common and recurring nursing needs of the patient.

Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting.

Assist patients to achieve basic health care goals.

Identify patient education needs, provide instruction, and refer appropriately.

Document observations, actions, and patient outcomes.

Performance is up to standard when:

Nursing Care:

Provide safe, accurate, and clinically competent direct care to patients and families.

Recognize patient's abnormalities or urgent problems and seek appropriate assistance.

Obtain health history information.

Obtain accurate vital signs, recognize and report variances.

Implement established Group Health Policies and Procedures.

Patient Instruction:

Teach techniques or provide information according to established program.

Documentation:

Accurately and appropriately document procedures and treatment in each patient's record.

Information Processing:

Appropriately communicate information to other members of the health care team.

Provide the patient and family with current and accurate information regarding the procedure and care.

Perform telephone screening under direction of RN or MD.

Technical and Ethical Competency:

Definition: This includes knowledge, self-direction, accountability, and ability to function within Group Health policies, philosophies, and procedures.

Performance is up to standard when:

Patient Advocacy:

Assure patients' rights to privacy, safety, and confidentiality.

Continuing Education:

Maintain current practice by obtaining continuing education in relevant practice areas.

Maintain CPR certification.

Utilization of Resources:

Use time and materials efficiently.

Goal Determination/Achievement:

Participate in goal setting and attainment for self, care unit, and/or department.

Leadership:

Definition: Leadership is a process through which an LPN affects the action of others through conduct and practice.

Performance is up to standard when:

Role Modeling:

Serve as a catalyst in improving standards of LPN practice.

Serve as a role model for technical conduct and practice.

Provide support to professional and technical staff.

Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, goals, and values of Group Health, Inc.

Decision-Making/Problem-Solving:

Solve problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the healthcare team.

Communication Skills:

Effect positive response from patients and other members of the healthcare team through interpersonal skills.
