Structural Technician

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation and aerospace industry to hire an experienced Structural Technician in Vandalia, OH. Pay Rate: $48.21 per hour

As a Structural Technician IV , you'll play a critical role in the assembly, modification, inspection, and repair of aircraft structures and aerospace components. Beyond your technical expertise, you'll serve as a mentor and leader, helping drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Your work will directly contribute to the production of high-performance aerospace systems where precision, safety, and craftsmanship are essential.

What You'll Do

In this advanced technical role, you will:

Structural Assembly & Fabrication

  • Assemble and fabricate major aircraft structural assemblies and components

  • Perform precision drilling, reaming, countersinking, riveting, trimming, filing, sawing, burring, and framing operations

  • Translate engineering drawings and blueprints into finished structural assemblies

  • Align parts and assemblies using jigs, fixtures, and templates

  • Measure and verify dimensions using calibrated tools, micrometers, and calipers

  • Install aerospace fasteners including rivets and Hi-Locks

  • Perform structural modifications and incorporate engineering changes into completed assemblies

  • Conduct repair, refinishing, and airframe corrosion removal activities as required

Leadership & Project Execution

  • Oversee and execute highly complex and critical assembly operations

  • Provide technical mentorship and support to technicians across all skill levels

  • Lead large-scale manufacturing and assembly projects while ensuring quality and schedule compliance

  • Serve as a key liaison between production teams, quality assurance, engineering, and management

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing efficiency and productivity

  • Develop and implement technical training initiatives for team members

Quality & Process Excellence

  • Conduct advanced inspections and quality assurance reviews

  • Monitor manufacturing processes and verify compliance with engineering requirements and quality standards

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and best-practice implementation

  • Update work status and production data within operational systems

  • Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and certification of tools and equipment

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety, security, and regulatory requirements

  • Perform work in a safety-sensitive aerospace manufacturing environment

  • Inspect structures, equipment, and aerospace products to ensure compliance and integrity

  • Support a culture of operational excellence, quality, and accountability

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Typically 10+ years of relevant aerospace structural assembly experience (8-15+ years considered)

  • This position requires a security clearance, and candidates are required to be U.S. Citizens. -

  • Advanced expertise in:

  • Aerospace structural assembly

  • Blueprint reading and interpretation

  • Technical schematics and documentation

  • Minor part fitting techniques

  • Fastener installation including rivets and Hi-Locks

  • Repair and refinishing processes

  • Airframe corrosion removal

  • Ability to interpret complex drawings, diagrams, manuals, publications, and engineering specifications

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and exceptional attention to detail

  • Must possess and maintain personal tools in good working order

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Aerospace Manufacturing or a related discipline

  • Advanced aerospace manufacturing certifications

  • Experience leading large-scale aerospace assembly projects

  • Aerospace and Defense industry background

  • U.S. Department of Defense or military experience

  • Aviation sheet metal experience

  • Previous experience training and mentoring technicians

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed

Pay Details: $48.21 per hour
