General Purpose of Job
The Energy Solutions Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic and daily operations and performance of the Energy Solutions Department within our distribution electric cooperative. Reporting to the Director of Key Accounts, Energy Solutions & Program Development, this role will provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to ensure the efficient management of the Energy Solutions Department, including but not limited to: energy efficiency programs, member and community engagement initiatives, investigation of high energy usage cases, and other innovative energy services. This role will also contribute to the strategic planning and vision of the Energy Solutions Department, working collaboratively with various cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

Requirements
Education

Minimum: Four (4) year bachelor’s degree in business energy management or related technical field.

Preferred: Master’s degree in energy management.

Job-related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience
- Minimum: Seven (7) years of work and leadership experience in the energy industry, with a focus on
field energy services, energy efficiency, member focused programs, metering, or related fields.

Preferred: Experience within an electric utility or related industry.
-
Preferred: Experience within an electric cooperative, electric utility, or closely related industry.
-
Preferred: Experience with solar and distributed energy resource interconnection processes.
-
Preferred: Experience with PowerClerk or similar interconnection management software.
-
Preferred: Experience with NISC iVUE, SmartHub, Connect, Marketing, or similar utility information systems.
Technical Skills
-
Advanced knowledge of electrical theory, residential and commercial energy assessments, metering technologies (including Advanced Metering Infrastructure), HVAC systems, thermography, renewable energy systems, surge protection, and energy usage investigations.

Working knowledge of HVAC systems, building envelope performance, water heating, appliances, electrical equipment, thermography, renewable energy systems, distributed generation and emerging energy technologies.

Demonstrated knowledge of energy audits, high energy usage investigations, interval usage analysis, and methods for identifying factors contributing to abnormal or elevated energy consumption.

Knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, distributed energy resources, Solar Interconnection Agreements, applicable interconnection requirements, and net metering or distributed generation tariffs.

Knowledge of Surge Protection, GenerLink, and related member energy products and services.

Ability to evaluate emerging technologies, programs, products, and services based on member benefit, operational impact, financial considerations, risk, and organizational objectives.

Ability to interpret energy usage data, operational metrics, program participation, financial results, and key performance indicators to support sound business decisions.

Proficiency with personal computers, operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and applicable corporate software.

Intermediate or greater proficiency in Excel for aggregating and analyzing operational and program data, identifying trends, and supporting decision-making.

Advanced ability to use Word and PowerPoint to prepare professional documentation, reports, educational materials, and audience-appropriate presentations.

Ability to learn and effectively apply new systems, technologies, and software.

Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines and telephones.

Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.

A valid Florida driver’s license for regular driving privileges of a company vehicle; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by SECO Energy.

Normal work hours will be eight (8) hours Monday through Friday, between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Business travel between offices and travel may be required for training and development.

Supervisory

Ensure employees use appropriate energy consumption data, interval usage information, AMI data, weather information, equipment characteristics, member history, and field observations when conducting investigations.

Establish consistent procedures and service standards for high energy usage investigations.

Oversee residential and commercial energy audits and assessments designed to identify opportunities for improved energy efficiency and member understanding.

Ensure members receive clear, accurate, and practical explanations of factors affecting energy usage and opportunities to better manage consumption.

Solar and Distributed Energy Resource Interconnection :

Oversee the cooperative's solar photovoltaic and distributed energy resource interconnection programs and processes.

Ensure applications and interconnection requests are processed safely, accurately, consistently, and within established service expectations.

Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Metering, Member Services, Billing, Key Accounts and other departments involved in distributed energy resource interconnections.

Maintain working knowledge of applicable interconnection agreements, tariffs, technical requirements, policies, procedures, and industry standards.

Ensure members and contractors receive accurate information regarding cooperative requirements, application processes, metering, rates, billing implications, and interconnection responsibilities.

Oversee the effective use and continuous improvement of PowerClerk or other applicable interconnection management platforms.

Monitor distributed energy resource trends and recommend process, policy, technology, or program changes as appropriate.
Surge Protection and GenerLink Programs :

Provide overall management and strategic direction for the cooperative's Surge Protection and GenerLink programs.

Establish operational, financial, participation, service-quality, and member-satisfaction performance measures for assigned programs.

Coordinate program administration, member communication, installation processes, inventory requirements, billing considerations, and internal workflows.

Monitor participation, member feedback, costs, revenues, and program performance.

Identify opportunities to improve program awareness, participation, efficiency, and member value.

Coordinate with Corporate Communications and Member Services to develop effective promotional and educational strategies.
Member Education and Community Engagement :

Develop and oversee a comprehensive energy education strategy designed to improve member understanding of energy consumption, efficiency, cooperative programs, renewable energy, and emerging technologies.

Lead and develop employees responsible for energy education, member presentations, energy audits, workshops, demonstrations, and community engagement.

Direct outreach activities including workshops, seminars, webinars, school programs, business presentations, member events, and community programs.

Deliver or oversee educational presentations to residential members, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and community groups.

Collaborate with Corporate Communications to develop accurate and engaging educational materials for print, digital, social media, website, and other communication channels.

Promote cooperative programs and solutions through educational activities, community events, campaigns, and direct member engagement.

Represent the cooperative at community events, industry meetings, conferences, trade associations, and other appropriate forums.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting :

Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and guidelines related to field services, energy efficiency, meter tampering, and energy usage investigation.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including accurate reporting and documentation of field operations and investigation activities.
