Job Summary:
Under routine supervision, this position develops prospective Brokerage personnel through hands-on experience in Customer Experience and Capacity Procurement roles. The incumbent will gain proficiency in J.B. Hunt systems, account management, load lifecycles, and professional pillars.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
-
Perform core responsibilities within Customer Experience and Capacity Procurement functions to gain end‑to‑end knowledge of customer and load management in preparation for placement in either role
-
Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding load updates and capacity availability; communicate cross-departmentally to verify load status and/or resolve problems with a focus on achieving customer satisfaction and minimizing service failures
-
Promote positive customer relationships by engaging regularly and providing solutions to meet their needs and goals to maximize freight potential and growth; negotiate spot rates for variable loads while identifying opportunities to convert to published business
-
Enter customer orders into the order management system to track loads and provide necessary information to operations teams; schedule pick-up and delivery appointments with an emphasis on optimizing transit time and meeting customer expectations

Negotiate with carriers for the optimal purchase rate to meet revenue and profit margin goals; utilize the designated systems to tender loads, manage freight movement, and maintain accurate records of shipments, rates, and customer details

Verify authenticity of carriers and tracking prior to scheduled pickup

Act as liaison between internal business stakeholders and external partners (carriers, customers, shipping and receiving facilities, etc.)

Complete a company‑administered development curriculum to build foundational knowledge of transportation service offerings, strengthen role-specific skills, and cultivate professional qualities that support continued growth and career progression

Meet regularly with leadership to review progress, present feedback for process improvements, and contribute innovative ideas that leverage a fresh perspective to enhance effectiveness

Connect with related roles to gain an in-depth understanding of end-to-end business processes, including, but not limited to Carrier Payable, Accounts Receivables, Pricing, and Sales

Gain an understanding and apply the spirit and methodology of J.B. Hunt's Customer and Carrier Value Delivery (Understand, Deliver, Measure, Communicate, and Anticipate)
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
OR High School Diploma/GED with up to 1 year of professional experience and/or military equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:

Compensation:
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
Benefits:
The Company offers the following benefits for full-time positions, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, as may be in effect from time to time: medical benefit, dental benefit, vision benefit, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, paid time off commensurate with tenure (includes vacation and sick time), six weeks of paid maternity leave along with two weeks of paid parental leave, and six paid holidays annually.
