About the Position: This position is located within the Department of Surgery Otorhinolaryngology Services Clinic at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell, Tennessee This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties

• Provides specialized clinical and technical support to Otolaryngology physicians across both inpatient and outpatient care settings.
• Manages the patient intake process by interviewing patients to document their chief complaints and symptoms and obtain vital signs.
• Assists Otolaryngology Medical Officers during a variety of specialized treatments, surgical procedures, and tests.
• Assists in pre-operative evaluation and post-operative care of patients
• Prepares and arranges sterile surgical instruments for general and specialized ear, nose, and throat (ENT) procedures.
• Performs minor procedures under direct supervision of the doctor such as irrigating patients' ear to remove earwax buildup or administering prescribed medications.

Basic Requirement for Health Technician (Otolaryngology): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with otolaryngologic operative or diagnostic procedures; obtaining and documenting patient information related to examinations or treatments; preparing examination rooms (e.g. instruments, supplies, and equipment for specialized medical procedures.) This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
