Summary

You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EUQIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the CRANE MAINTENANCE DIVISION CODE 730 and the LIFTING & HANDLING DEPARTMENT 700 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

  • You will demonstrate proper work methods and provide on the job training for workers.
  • You will ensure safe work practices and good housekeeping while assuring timely tool, equipment, material, and procedure availability.
  • You will keep the first line supervisor informed of job progress and job performance.
  • You will ensure proper inter-trade and inter-shop coordination with timely yet orderly job completion.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION Experience utilizing broad knowledge of heavy mobile equipment systems and equipment. Experience exhibiting examples of applying sufficient knowledge of trade theory and techniques. Experience displaying and understanding of operational theory, check-out procedures and have knowledge and skill to perform heavy mobile equipment mechanic work. Experience demonstrating and articulating this understanding, knowledge and skill to co-workers on these systems and components.
