Full job description

We are hiring dependable, motivated Water Meter Installers for a long-term project in Sarasota County, Florida. The project involves upgrading approximately, including the installation of Badger water meters and cellular endpoints, meter/register retrofits, and documentation of the water service lines at each account.

This is a production-based field position suited for someone who enjoys working independently, working outdoors, and being rewarded for productivity. Training will be provided on our installation procedures, documentation requirements, meter boxes, valves, risers, and basic repairs.

Primary Responsibilities

Installers will:

  • Remove and replace residential water meters, primarily 5/8-inch through 1-inch meters.

  • Perform meter/register retrofits, including larger-meter retrofits when assigned.

  • Install and activate Badger cellular endpoints.

  • Identify and document the city-side and customer-side service line material.

  • Take clear required photographs before, during, and after each installation.

  • Record old and new meter numbers, readings, transmitter information, and other required information.

  • Shut off and restore water service safely.

  • Flush water lines and inspect installations for leaks.

  • Verify proper meter installation and flow direction.

  • Replace meter lids, boxes, risers, and valves when required.

  • Keep the installation area clean and remove old material and debris.

  • Complete required handheld records and paperwork accurately.

  • Return old meters and completed paperwork at the end of the workday.

The project requires detailed documentation of each installation, including photographs of the existing meter setting, service line materials, meter information, flushing, and the completed installation.

Production Expectations

After training and the initial two-week learning period, installers are expected to complete a minimum of:

80 completed installations or retrofits per week

Quality is just as important as production. An account is considered complete only when the required photographs, service-line information, handheld information, and paperwork have been properly submitted.
